We understand that location tracking can raise questions. This article explains exactly how Rapid On The GO! uses location services, why they’re needed, and the steps we take to ensure your privacy and control.
The short version: ROTG only uses location data to support your work tasks—and never tracks you secretly or outside of the app.
Why ROTG Uses Location Services
Rapid On The GO! is designed to support field‑based work such as dispatching, time tracking, inspections, and compliance reporting. Location services help automate these processes so you don’t have to manually enter information.
Location data is used to:
- Confirm when and where work‑related actions take place
- Support compliance features such as Hours of Service (HOS)
- Improve job dispatching, routing, and arrival estimates
- Reduce manual reporting and paperwork
When Location Data Is Collected
ROTG only accesses your device’s location during specific, work‑related actions inside the app.
This includes:
- Logging in or out of the app
- Clocking in or clocking out (if time tracking is enabled)
- Taking a photo within the app
- Submitting an HOS log
- Submitting a Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR)
- Verifying or updating a job site location
- Receiving and opening an in‑app message
- Adding or editing a job site using the “current location” option
- Completing checklists or checklist items
Location data is not collected continuously by default—it is tied to these actions.
Optional Background Location Tracking
Some companies choose to enable automatic background location tracking for specific operational needs, such as:
- Electronic Logging Device (ELD) and HOS compliance
- Estimating travel time and distance to job sites
- Improving dispatch visibility while vehicles are in motion
If enabled, this tracking:
- Only works while you are logged in
- Follows rules set by your company (for example, only after clocking in)
- Can be configured for how often location updates are collected
- Can be completely disabled by your company if not required
Your company controls whether this feature is used at all.
What ROTG Does Not Track
To be clear, Rapid On The GO! does not:
- Track your location when you are logged out
- Track your location without your knowledge or permission
- Monitor you outside of work‑related app usage
- Access other phone data (such as contacts, messages, or personal apps)
- Record audio or video
- Track you “silently” in the background without configuration and consent
If you are logged out of the app, no location data is collected or stored.
Your Control and Visibility
You always have visibility into your location data.
Inside the ROTG app, you can:
- View a Tracking Log showing when location data was recorded – available from Profile > Tracking Log.
- See the date, time, and coordinates associated with each entry
This transparency ensures you can always understand when and why location data was accessed.
Your Device Permissions
Both iOS and Android require you to explicitly allow location access for any app that uses it—just like navigation or map apps.
ROTG explains why location access is needed:
- When you first launch the app
- In your phone’s app settings
Without this permission, some features may not function correctly—but the choice is always visible to you.
Our Commitment to Privacy
RapidWorks is committed to responsible and transparent use of location data:
- Location data is tied only to authorized users
- Data is collected for clear, work‑related purposes
- Access stops immediately when you log out
- Usage aligns with platform privacy requirements for Apple and Google
