Introduction
A “Posting Date Error” may occur when an invoice is edited with a date earlier than the allowed posting period. This guide explains why the error appears and outlines steps for resolving it.
Why the Posting Date Error Occurs
The error is triggered when an attempt is made to create or modify an invoice with a date preceding the minimum posting date defined in the system. This restriction is enforced by RapidWorks to ensure data integrity and compliance with accounting standards.
Steps to Address Posting Date Errors
The following actions can be taken to correct the issue:
- Verify Application Version
Ensure the latest version of RapidWorks is installed to prevent issues caused by outdated software by going to the top left corner RW menu and check for updates.
- Review Posting Date Settings
Navigate to:
Company > My Company > Advanced Defaults
At the bottom of the page, locate the Posting Date Minimum setting.
- Compare Invoice Date
If the invoice date is earlier than the minimum posting date, editing will not be permitted. - Adjust Posting Date (Company Information & Settings Read and Write permissions required)
When Company permissions are available, the minimum posting date can be modified to allow changes to invoices with earlier dates.
By completing these steps, the posting date error can be resolved and invoices with earlier dates can be successfully edited.
